
To allow youth to express themselves in performing arts utilizing horticulture subject(s) as theme.
Performances may consist of (but not be limited to) prose, poetry, skits and/or original compositions. All entries must have an oral component. Props/ costumes may be used. Performances do not necessarily need to be memorized, although scoring may consider dependence upon notes.
Who Can Participate 15-18 and 19-22 years old. Entries may consist of individuals or groups. An individual may compete both individually as well be a member of a group. The group age will be determined by the age of the oldest group member.
Scoring will be based as follows:
Performance time limit is 5-10 minutes and does not include set preparation/ breakdown. Questions after the performance may be asked by judges only. Some entries may be selected for command performances during the NJHA convention.
Grand National Winners -- One performance may receive a plaque in recognition as grand national award winner. In the event that no performance is deemed worthy of the grand national award, no plaque will be awarded.
National Award -- Up to 3 performances are eligible to receive a plaque. In the event that no performances are deemed worthy of a national award, no plaques will be awarded.
